Invigorating a community through arts and culture

Creative Districts are a program of the Washington State Arts Commission (ArtsWA). This program helps communities turn cultural activities into economic growth.

In 2019, ArtsWA received the WEDA Innovation in Economic Development Award for programs that significantly improve a community’s ability to attract and keep investment.

A Creative District is a geographically defined area of cultural and economic activity. It’s the heart of a community, a fun place to live, work, and visit, and a place for people to gather to enjoy their community’s Arts, Culture, and Heritage.

A Creative District is a place where innovation and creativity can thrive. A place that helps the community move enthusiastically into the future.

Good Company! WA Creative Districts include:

Anacortes, Bainbridge Island, Bremerton, Burien, Chewelah, Coupeville, COWALLA, Edmonds, Ellensburg, Issaquah, Langely, Moses Lake, Newport, Olympia, Port Townsend, Rainier Valley, Soap Lake, South Columbia (SoCo), Tenino, Twisp… and more on the way.
